Simon-Baker
Producer, Engineer, Mixer
Primarily known for producing music in the Americana, Electronic, Folk / Acoustic, Indie Pop, Pop-Rock, Rock, Singer-Songwriter genres throughout his career.
He has worked with various well known artists and producers including Steve Berlin, Jack Johnson, Los Lobos, Jackie Greene, Shinyribs, The Commonheart, ALO, Mother Hips, Midnight North, Soul Ska, Greg Loiacono, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, Phil Lesh, Mr. T Experience, Eric Martin, Trigger Hippy, Jim Belushi, Kingfish and many others. He has also worked with various major and indie record labels including Universal, Sony, Epic, Brushfire, Camera, Blue Rose, Pony Canyon and 429 Records, to name a few.
Early Years
He first began studying music with Neal Harris in San Rafael, then with Paul Smith and Martin Fricke at the College of Marin. Dave then went on to U.C. Santa Barbara and began focusing on Music Composition. While at UCSB, David began his engineering career by working for the Associated Students Program Board, providing live sound engineering for on campus concerts. He also studied at Kerr Hall Studios, where he expanded his skills doing scoring work for film.
After college, David started his own recording studio, which he quickly outgrew and began an association with Ari Rios and Laughing Tiger Productions in 1996. He became a primary contributor to the growth and success of Laughing Tiger. While there, he worked with an impressive and diverse array of artists, engineers and producers in a variety of styles.
Mission Bells
In 2006, David branched out and partnered with Tim Bluhm, of the band The Mother Hips, and Jackie Greene. Together they formed a production team at a recording studio called Mission Bells located in San Francisco Mission District.
Notable Mission Bells albums include: Mother Hips Pacific Dust, Jackie Greene Till The Light Comes, Nicki Bluhm Driftwood, Chris Velan Solidago, ALO Sounds Like This, and Los Lobos Tin Can Trust.
ALLEGIANT Records
In 2015, David partnered with Allegiant Records, a mid-sized, professional recording facility in San Anselmo, Marin County, with Danny Uzilevsky, Erik Smyth and Chrissy Lynne Colangelo.
Notable Allegiant Records albums include: ALO Tangle of Time, Greg Loiacono Songs From A Golden Dream, Midnight North There’s Always A Story, Victoria George Victoria George And The High Lonesome, Bernie And The Believers Connection, and Alex Jordan The Subtle Exhibitionist.

David has developed his home production studio and continues producing records at various studios in the Bay Area and Sacramento region. Tracking and Mix sessions can now be done remotely over video calls using Audiomovers.
Additionally, David is an accomplished guitarist, vocalist and songwriter who often is found performing with artists he’s produced albums with, including Casual Coalition, Jackie Greene, Alexander Nelson and Soul Ska to name a few.
